பலிஜா (Balija) எனப்படுவோர் தமிழகம், கர்நாடகம் மற்றும் ஆந்திர மாநிலங்களில் வாழும் ஒரு சமூகமாகும். இவர்களுள் பெரும்பாலானோரின் தாய்மொழி தெலுங்கு மற்றும் கன்னடம் ஆகும். கன்னடம் பேசும் பனாஜிகா சமூகத்தினர் கொங்கு நாட்டில் கணிசமாக வாழ்ந்து வருகின்றனர்.நாயுடு, நாயக்கர், செட்டியார் , ராவ், மற்றும் ரெட்டி இவர்களது பட்டங்களாகும்.

பலிஜாவின் பிரிவுகள்[தொகு]

விஜயநகர பேரரசர், கிருஷ்ணதேவராயர் காலத்தில் 'பலிஜா' எனும் பட்டத்தின் கீழ் இடங்கை சாதிகளான கொல்லா (Gollas), கவரா மற்றும் பலரை திரட்டினார்கள்.^[1] அரசு ஆவணங்களின் படி பலிஜா என்பது வடுகத் தெலுகினத்தின் சிலசாதிகளை ஒன்றிணைக்கும் குடைப்பிரிவாக கருதப்படுகின்றது.

மதராஸ் மாகாண கெசீட்டர்ஸ் (Madras district Gazeteers) என்னும் அரசு ஆவணத்தின்படி :-

" பலிஜாக்கள் உண்மையான தொழில்-சாதிகளைக் குறிக்காத மற்றும் தொழில்சார் குறியீடு என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. கொல்ல பலிஜாக்கள் பொதுவாக கொல்லா (Gollas) எனப்படுகின்றனர். இவர்கள் தங்களை "நாயுடு" என அழைத்துக்கொள்கின்றனர் ; கம்ம பலிஜாக்கள் கம்மாக்களுடன் (Kammas) அடையாளம் காணப்படுகின்றனர் ; மேலும் லிங்க பலிஜா (பனாஜிகா) கனரா லிங்காயத்துகளுள் பிரபலமான வார்த்தையாகத் தெரிகிறது " ^[2].
