காயல் ஒண்முகில் (Lagoon Nebula) ( மெசியர் 8 அல்லது M8, NGC 6523, கூரிலி 25, RCW 146, and கம் 72 எனப் பட்டியலிடப்பட்டது) ஒரு மாபெரும் உடுக்கண இடைவெளி ஒண்முகில் ஆகும். இது வில்(தனுசு) விண்மீன் குழுவில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இது உமிழ்வகை ஒண்முகிலாகவும் H II வட்டாரமாகவும் வகபடுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.
காயல் ஒண்முகில் 1654 ஆண்டுக்கு முன் ஜியோவன்னி கோதியெர்னாவால் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டது[5] இது நடு வடக்கு அகலாங்குகளில் மங்கலாகக் கண்ணுக்குப் புலப்படும் இரண்டு விண்மீன் உருவாகும் ஒண்முகில்களில் ஒன்றாகும். இருவில்லைநோக்கிகளில் காணும்போது ஓர் ஆழ் அகடு உள்ள ஒரு தெளிவான முகிற்பட்டையாகத் தோன்றுகிறது. இந்த ஒண்முகிலுக்குள் திறந்த விண்மீன் கொத்தான புபொப 6530 அமைந்துள்ளது.[6]

இது புவியில் இருந்து 4000 முதல் 6000 வரையிலான ஒளியாண்டுகள் தொலைவில் உள்ளதாக மதிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. புவியின் வான்பரப்பில் 90' க்கு 40' கோண்த்துக்குப் பரவியுள்ளது. இது கிட்டதட்ட 110 க்கு 50 ஒளியாண்டுகளுக்குச் சமமாகும். பல ஒண்முகில்களைப் போல, இது கால ஆட்பாட்டு நிற ஒளிப்படங்களில் வெளிர்சிவப்பு நிறத்திலும் தொலைநோக்கியில் கூர்ந்து பார்க்கும்போது சாம்பல் நிறத்திலும், கணூக்கு தாழ் ஒலிமட்டங்களில் அருகிய நிறக்கூர்வோடு காணப்படுகிறது.
