மகோபாவின் உதால்
உதால் (Udal) என்பது உத்தரப் பிரதேசத்தில் சொல்லப்படும் அல்கா-காண்ட் என்ற காவியத்தில் வரும் 12 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் புகழ்பெற்ற தளபதியின் பெயராகும்.[1] காவியத்தில், உதாலும் இவரது சகோதரர் அல்காவும் மகோபாவின் சந்தேல மன்னன் பரமார்த்தி தேவனின் இராணுவத்தில் பணியாற்றுகின்றனர். இவர்கள் இராஜ்புத் மற்றும் அகிர் வம்சாவளியைச் சேர்ந்த பனாபர் குலத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள். இவர்கள் இருவரும் பல்வேறு போர்களை நிகழ்த்தினர்.[2][3]
காவியத்தின்படி, உதால் ஒரு தளபதியாக இருந்த தனது தந்தை தாஸ்ராஜ் இறந்த பிறகு பிறந்தார். மேலும் அவர் பரமார்த்தி மன்னர் நடத்திய போரில் பங்கு கொண்டு கொல்லப்பட்டார். மன்னன் அதைத் தொடர்ந்து உதாலை தனது சொந்த மகனாக வளர்த்தான்.[4] மகோபாவில் நடந்த ஒரு பெரிய போரில் இராசபுத்திர மன்னன் பிருத்திவிராச் சௌகானின் படையுடன் போரிடும் போது உதால் எப்படி கொல்லப்பட்டான் என்பதை காவியம் விவரிக்கிறது; மதன்பூரில் உள்ள கல்வெட்டுகள் மூலம் இதனை அறிய முடிகிறது. மேலும் கி.பி.1182-1183 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஒரு கட்டத்தில் இது நடந்திருக்கலாம்.[5]
இவர்களின் பெயரில் நகரத்தில் சந்தைகள் உள்ளன. பல கோயில்கள் மற்றும் கட்டிடங்கள் இருவரும் கட்டப்பட்டதாக நம்பப்படுகிறது.
