This village is known as Seelaipilaiyar puthur because the Piliyar god (God Ganesh) in on of the temple wears sari (Sari - Seelai in Tamil language) hence the village is named Seelaipillaiyar puthur.
Seelaipilaiyar Puthur is a village situated in the bank of cauvery River. It is a very very beautiful place. Near about 1000 families are living in this village. Paddy, coconut and banana is the main cultivation in this area. Many people doesn't know this beautiful place. No need of mineral in this village. The cauvery water is very very sweet.
