பூமியின் வடிவம் தட்டைதளம் அல்லது வட்டத்தட்டு எனும் கருத்தே தட்டையான புவி கோட்பாடு. பண்டைய கிரேக்கம், குப்தர் காலம் வரையிலான பண்டைய இந்தியா மற்றும் 17-ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு வரையிலான சீனா போன்ற பல நாகரீகங்களில் நமது பூமி தட்டையானது என்றே நம்பப்பட்டது.பூமி தட்டையானது என்றும் மற்றும் அதன் மேலே கவிழக்கபட்ட கிண்ணம் போன்றது வானம் என்றும் அமேரிக்கத்தின் கண்டுபிடிப்பு வரையிலான புதிய உலகம் நாகரீகங்கள் கருதின[1].
