Google's translation initiative, and the willingness to co-operate and work with the local wikis is greatly appreciated. The following recommendations are intended to improve the outcomes of this initiative.

Article Selection

• Issue 1: Many articles have been about American pop stars, films etc, which have lesser priority on Tamil Wikipedia.

Who determines the 'priority'? Wikipedia is an open knowledge source going by criterion like Notability. Surely American pop stars like Madonna are very notable people

• Issue 2: Several articles replace good quality Tamil Wikipedia articles that were existing.

This looks lime a sweeping generalization. When you say 'several', how many? what was the condition of the articles before that? How did it happen?

Topic selection is left to individual writers, a "committee" cannot decide that. Please go through Wiki guidelines before talking of 'prioriy'. You are nobody to impose your priorities on others. Article's Title

• Article titles are in the English language, or mixed.The Tamil Wiki requires them to be in Tamil (Translated or Transliterated)
• Article titles are incorrectly translated, and/or formatted.

Layout

• Many translated articles do not even follow the layout structure of the English article. Many articles are in a scramble. Please follow the guide line here or here

Templates

• Many templates of English Wikipedia are not in the Tamil Wikipedia. All necessary templates needs to be translated, and localized before using them. Just coping the templates is not helpful.The information is not displayed and distorts the page layout.

Images

• If images are not in the wiki commons, then they can not be used in the Tamil Wikipedia without uploading it here. Just coping the image is not helpful.This results articles with imageholders without any pictures. Users derive no benefit from it.

Internal Links

• Many internal links are made inappropriately. As in Tamil language, case suffixes attaches with the noun ,internal links are given to such terms than nouns. Crudely like, [[in Chennai]] instead of in [[Chennai]]
• The existing internal links are not searched for but new red links are created with a slight difference of spelling. Again a crude example will be, while an article by name Delhi may be already there but referring it to Dilli and causing a red links.

The abundance of red links impedes the flow of reading. An herculean task at correcting them.

Technical Terms

Many articles require the use of proper Tamil technical terms. For guides and references please refer to கலைச்சொல் செயல்பாடுகள் ஒருங்கிணைவு. Tamil Wikitionary has more than 112 000 terms. If the user needs help, then can request for help here

Style and Prose

It is critical to write the articles in a style appropriate for an encyclopedia. This style is different from that of a blog, or popular magazines. Please refer to நடைக் கையேடு for further guidiance.

Translation Quality

• English word for word translation is adopted which results in being not intelligible in the native language.wiki expects the sentence should be understood by the translator, internalize it and write in native language format.
• English idioms and phrases may not be applicable in native context which should find an Indian substitute .
