வரலாற்று வண்ணப்பூச்சு பகுப்பாய்வு (Historic paint analysis) என்பது கட்டிடக்கலையின் அறிவியல்முறைப் பகுப்பாய்வாகும், இதில் வண்ணங்கள் மட்டுமல்ல, உலோகக்கலவைகளும் பண்டைய வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த கட்டிடங்களில் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டன. இத்தகைய பகுப்பாய்வின் முதன்மை நோக்கம் கட்டிடத்தின் வரலாற்றில் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட நேரத்தில் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் பூச்சு நிறத்தை தீர்மானிப்பதாகும். பொதுவாக கட்டிடங்களின் கட்டுமானம் எவற்றால் ஆனது என்பதைக் கண்டறிவது ஆகும். தண்ணீர், எண்ணெய், பாதாம், முதலியன நிறமிகளை (கரிம நிறமிகள், கனிம நிறமிகள், சாயங்கள்) போன்ற பொருட்களின் உறுதிப்பாட்டைக் கண்டறிவது இரண்டாம் நிலை நோக்கம் அடங்கும். வண்ணப்பூச்சுப் பகுப்பாய்வு பல்வேறு கட்டிடக் கூறுகளை அறியவும், கட்டிடம் கட்டப்பட்ட காலத்தையும் வரலாற்றையும் அறியவும் அவற்றின் தோற்றம் எப்படி மாறியுள்ளது என அறியவும் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது.
