This was a space to plan the m:Community Capacity Development pilot program in the Tamil community. The program is now concluded, and summarized on Meta.

What is this about?

The Wikimedia Foundation would like to help the Tamil community develop its on-wiki technical skills.

Toward that, WMF ran a survey on the Tamil Wikipedia in November 2015, to determine what training is most needed and welcome, and what methods would work best.

The training took place in Chennai, over a weekend, and some budget was available for travel for Tamil community members outside Chennai, including Sri Lanka.

Current status

• the survey results are now published.
• Based on the results, I suggest to focus the training on the following topics:
  • An overview and tutorials on many existing tools
  • Statistics and data mining using Quarry and Wikidata Query (WDQ)
  • Wikidata ontology -- items, properties, values, units.
• The training was held on Apr 30th-May 1st 2016, at the Tamil Virtual Academy in Chennai.
