பேண்தகு வேளாண்மை (Sustainable agriculture) என்பது உயிரினங்களுக்கும், சூழலுக்கும் இடையிலான தொடர்பை விளக்கும் சூழலியல் கொள்கைகளின் அடிப்படையில் வேளாண்மையை வடிவமைத்து தொழிற்படல் ஆகும். இது ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட இடத்தில், தாவர விளைச்சல், [[விலங்கு]லினப்பெருக்கம் ஆகியவற்றை ஒன்றிணைத்து உருவாகும் ஒரு திட்டமாக இருப்பதுடன், இந்த ப் பேண்தகு வேளாண்மை , நீண்டகால நோக்கத்தில்,
- மனிதனின் உணவுத் தேவையை நிறைவுசெய்யக் கூடியதாக இருத்தல் வேண்டும்.
- புதுப்பிக்கப்படாத வளங்களை (non-renewable resources) மிகுந்த வினைத்திறனுடம் கூடுதல் பயன்பாட்டுக்கு உட்படுத்த வல்லதாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.
- வேளாண்மை தொழிற்பாடுகளை பொருளாதார முறையில் வாழ்தகவுடன் பேணிப் பாதுகாப்பதாய் இருக்க வேண்டும்.
- உழவர்களின் வாழ்க்கைத் தரத்தை உயர்ந்தும் அதே வேளையில் ஒட்டுமொத்த சமூகத்தின் வாழ்க்கைத் தரத்தையும் உயர்த்த வேண்டும்.[1]
