கிபி 10 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டிலேயே இவரது அடையாளம் குறித்தும், இவரது ஆக்கங்கள் எவை என்பது குறித்தும் இசுலாமிய உலகில் கருத்து முரண்பாடுகள் நிலவின.[7] கிறித்தவ மேற்குலகில் இவரது பெயர் கெபெர் என இலத்தீனாக்கம் பெற்றிருந்ததுடன், 13 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு ஐரோப்பாவில் பொதுவாக போலி கெபெர் என அழைக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு அடையாளம் தெரியாதவர் இரசவாதம், உலோகவியல் என்பன சார்ந்த ஆக்கங்களை கெபெர் என்னும் பெயரில் எழுதியிருந்தார்.[8]
