நியூயார்க் நவீனக்கலை அருங்காட்சியகம் ( Museum of Modern Art ) (MoMA) என்பது உலகளவில் மிகவும் நவீன கலை ஆக்கங்களைக் கொண்டிருக்கின்ற அருங்காட்சியகம் ஆகும்.^[2] இது ஐக்கிய அமெரிக்காவின் நியூயார்க் நகரத்தின் 53ஆவது தெரு மான்காட்டன் கட்டடத்தில் இயங்கிவருகிறது. நவீன மற்றும் சமகாலக் கலை கண்ணோட்டத்தை இந்த அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் உள்ள சேகரிப்புகள் வழங்குகின்றன^[3]. கட்டிடக்கலை மற்றும் கலை வடிவமைப்பு முறைகள் வரைகலை வண்ணம் தீட்டுதல்,சிற்பம் , புகைப்படம் எடுத்தல், அச்சிட்ட சித்திரப் புத்தகங்கள் மற்றும் கலைஞர்களின் புத்தகங்கள், திரைப்படம் மற்றும் மின்னணு ஊடகங்கள் உட்பட ஏராளாமான படைப்புகள் இங்கு காணக்கிடைக்கின்றன.

நவீனக்கலை வடிவங்கள்

கலை என்பது ஓவியம்,சிற்பம் என்பதை எல்லாம் கடந்து அறிவியல் தொழில்நுட்பங்களைப் பயன்படுத்தி, ஒரு சட்டகத்துள் அடக்காமல் ஒளி, ஒலி காட்சிகளையும் அசைவுரு படிமங்களையும் உருவாக்கி, வெளிப்படுத்துகின்ற தன்மை இங்கு மிகுதியாக இருக்கின்றது. இன்சலேசன் என்கிற பல்வேறு பொருட்களைக் கொண்டு உருவாக்குகின்ற கலைவடிவம் மிகுதியாக உள்ளது. எடுத்துக்காட்டாக 50க்கும் மேற்பட்ட சுவர் கடிகாரங்களை சுமார் 30அடி உயரமும், 40அடி அகலமும் உள்ள சுவரில் நேர்த்தியாக மாட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது போன்றும், இருபது தொலைக்காட்சிப் பெட்டிகள் ஒன்றன்பின் ஒன்றாக ஐந்து வரிசையில் அடுக்கி ஒவ்வொரு தொலைக்காட்சியிலும் படிமங்களைத் தோன்ற வைத்து பார்வையாளர்களுக்கு வித்தியாசமான உணர்வைத் தோன்றவைத்தல், தேனீர் கடையில் இருக்கின்ற அத்தனைப் பொருட்களையும் கொண்டு ஒருபடைப்பு, இப்படி நீள்கிறது. ^[4]

இப்படி பல்வேறு வகையான வெளிப்பாடுகள் இருந்தாளும் நிறங்களையும், கோடுகளையும் பயன்படுத்தி கித்தானில் வரையப்பட்ட ஓவியங்களும் உள்ளன.
