சரண் (Charan) என்பது தெற்கு ஆசியாவில் இந்தியாவின் ராஜஸ்தான் மற்றும் குசராத்து மாநிலங்களிலும், பாக்கித்தானின் சிந்து மாகாணம், பலூசிஸ்தான் ஆகிய பகுதிகளில் பூர்வீகமாக வசிக்கும் ஒரு சாதியாகும். இவர்கள் வரலாற்று ரீதியாக, பார்ப்பனர்கள், கவிஞர்கள், வரலாற்றாளர்கள், கால்நடை வளர்ப்போர், உழவர்கள், நிர்வாகிகள், சாகிர்தார்கள், போர்வீரர்கள் மற்றும் சிலர் வணிகர்களாகவும் பல்வேறு தொழில்களில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர்.[6]

கவிஞர்கள் மற்றும் வரலாற்றாசிரியர்கள்[தொகு]

ராஜஸ்தானி மற்றும் குஜராத்தி இலக்கியங்கள் ஆரம்ப மற்றும் இடைக்கால காலத்திலிருந்து, 19 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு வரை, முக்கியமாக சரண்களால் இயற்றப்பட்டது. சரண்களுக்கும் ராஜ்புத்திரர்களுக்கும் இடையிலான உறவு வரலாற்றில் ஆழமாக வேரூன்றியுள்ளது. சரண்கள் ராஜபுத்திரர்களுடன் இணைந்து சண்டைகளில் பங்குகொண்டது மட்டுமல்லாமல், சமகால ராஜபுத்திர வாழ்க்கையின் ஒரு பகுதியான பல நிகழ்வுகளுக்கும் அத்தியாயங்களுக்கும் சாட்சிகளாக இருந்தனர். இத்தகைய போர்கள் மற்றும் சம்பவங்களைப் பற்றி இயற்றப்பட்ட கவிதைகள் இரண்டு குணங்களைக் கொண்டிருந்தன: அடிப்படை வரலாற்று உண்மை மற்றும் தெளிவான, யதார்த்தமான மற்றும் சித்திர விளக்கங்கள், குறிப்பாக நாயகர்கள், வீரச் செயல்கள் மற்றும் போர்கள். நிர்வாகிகள்[தொகு]

வணிகர்களாக[தொகு]

குடியேற்றத்திற்கு முந்தைய காலத்தில் இராஜபுதனம் , மால்வா மற்றும் குசராத்தைச் சுற்றியுள்ள பகுதிகளில் சுங்க வரி செலுத்துவதில் இருந்து விலக்கு அளிக்கப்பட்டதால், இவர்கள் தங்கள் நிலையைப் பயன்படுத்திக் கொண்டனர். [17]

தண்டனையின்றி பல்வேறு மாநிலங்களுக்கு இடையே சரக்குகளை ஏற்றிச் செல்வதற்கும், ஏராளமான மாடுகளை பார விலங்குகளாகப் பயன்படுத்துவதன் மூலமும் சரண்களால் "வடமேற்கு இந்தியாவில் வணிகத்தின் ஏகபோகத்தை " நிறுவ முடிந்தது. பல சரண்கள் பணக்கார வணிகர்களாகவும், பணம் கொடுப்பவர்களாகவும் மாறியதாக கூறப்படுகிறது. அவர்களின் சரக்கு வாகனங்கள் கொள்ளைக்காரர்களுக்கு எதிராக காப்பீடு செய்யப்பட்டதாக கருதப்பட்டது.[18] ராஜஸ்தானில் கச்சேல சரண்கள் வணிகர்களாக சிறந்து விளங்கினர்.

சரண் வணிகர்கள் பெரிய காளைகளை வடக்கே மார்வார் மற்றும் இந்துஸ்தான், கிழக்கே குசராத்து வழியாக மால்வாவிற்கும் கொண்டு சென்றனர். அவர்கள் தந்தம், தென்னை, படிகாரம் மற்றும் உலர் பேரீச்சை உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு பொருட்களை வர்த்தகம் செய்தனர். அவை கச்சுவிலிருந்து மார்வார் மற்றும் இந்துஸ்தானில் இருந்து மக்காச்சோளம் மற்றும் புகையிலையை கொண்டு வந்தன. ஆப்பிரிக்காவிலிருந்து குசராத்திலுள்ள மாண்டவிக்கு கொண்டு வரப்பட்ட தந்தங்கள், தானியங்கள் மற்றும் கரடுமுரடான துணிதுகளுக்கு ஈடாக சரண் வணிகர்களால் வாங்கப்பட்டன. அங்கிருந்து மார்வாரில் விற்பனை செய்ய தந்தங்களை கொண்டு சென்றனர். பதினேழாம் மற்றும் பதினெட்டாம் நூற்றாண்டுகளின் பிற்பகுதியில், இவர்கள் முகலாயர், ராஜ்புத் மற்றும் பிற பிரிவுகளின் போரிடும் படைகளுக்கு பொருட்கள் மற்றும் ஆயுதங்களை வழங்குவதில் பெரும் பங்கு வகித்தனர். பஞ்சாப் முதல் மகாராட்டிரம் வரையிலான சந்தைகளில் இவர்கள் தங்கள் பொருட்களை விற்றனர். [20]

மார்வாரில் உப்பு-வியாபாரத்தில் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான மக்கள் மற்றும் எருதுகள் மற்றும் ஒட்டகங்கள் போன்ற விலங்குகளை பயன்படுத்தினர். புஷ்கர்ண பிராமணர்கள் மற்றும் பில்களுடன் சேர்ந்து சரண்கள் உப்பு வணிகத்தில் ஈடுபட்டு சுங்க வரி செலுத்துவதில் இருந்து விலக்கு பெற்றனர். சிந்தாரியைச் சேர்ந்த கச்சேலா சரண்கள் தல்வாராவில் இருந்து உப்பை சேகரித்து மார்வாரின் பிற பகுதிகளில் விற்பனை செய்து வந்தனர். வணிக வர்த்தகத்தின் பாதுகாவலர்கள்[தொகு]

மால்புரா, பாலி, சோஜாத், அஜ்மீர், மற்றும் பில்வாரா ஆகிய முக்கிய மையங்களில் பாதுகாவலர்களாக செயல்பட்டதன் மூலம் சரண்கள் "பொருட்களை சிறந்த முறையில் கொண்டு செல்பவர்கள்" என்று விவரிக்கப்பட்டனர். [22] ராஜஸ்தான், குசராத்து, மற்றும் மால்வா (மத்தியப் பிரதேசம்) முழுவதும் சரண்கள் பயணம் முழுவதும் வணிக வணிகத்தின் பாதுகாவலர்களாக செயல்பட்டனர். [23] [24] வணிகப் பாதை சுய்காம் ( குசராத்து ), சஞ்சோர், பின்மால், ஜலோர் வழியாக பாலி வரை இருந்தது. [25] ஒரு சரணின் தடையின்மை மற்றும் வணிகப் பாதைகள் பற்றிய அவர்களின் அறிவு அவர்களை சிறந்த வணிக பாதுகாவலர்களாக வேறுபடுத்தியது. [26] குதிரைகள், ஒட்டகங்கள் மற்றும் காளை மாடுகளின் வாகனங்கள் பல்வேறு விளை பொருட்களை சுமந்து கொண்டு பாலைவனம் மற்றும் காடுகள் நிறைந்த மலைகள் வழியாக சென்றன. அவை எப்போதும் கொள்ளைக்காரர்கள் மற்றும் கொள்ளையர்களின் அச்சுறுத்தலுக்கு உட்பட்டேயிருந்தன. சரண்கள் அவற்றின் பாதுகாவலர்களாக செயல்பட்டனர். வாகனக்களின் பாதுகாவலர்களாக, சரண்கள் கொள்ளைக்காரர்களின் முயற்சிகளை முறியடித்தனர். குதிரை வியாபாரம்[தொகு]

குதிரை வியாபாரம் சரண்களின் முக்கிய தொழில்களில் ஒன்றாகும். [29] [30] கச்சேலா சரண்கள் ( கச்சு & சிந்துவிலிருந்து ) மற்றும் சோரத்தியா சரண்கள் ( கத்தியவாரிலிருந்து ) போன்ற சில சரண் துணைக் குழுக்கள் வரலாற்று ரீதியாக குதிரை வளர்ப்பு மற்றும் வர்த்தகத்தில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளன. [31] [32] குதிரைகளின் பொதுவான தொடர்பு சரண்களுக்கும் கதி பழங்குடியினருக்கும் இடையே பிணைப்புக்கு வழிவகுத்தது. சில குசேல சரண்கள் மேற்கு ராஜஸ்தானில் உள்ள மல்லாணியை ( பார்மேர், ராஜஸ்தான்) சுற்றி குடியேறினர். இது குதிரை வளர்ப்பில் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. இப்பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த மார்வாரி குதிரைகள் மல்லாணி குதிரைகள் என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டன. 18 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில், பிகானேர் இராச்சியத்தில் பெரும்பாலான குதிரை வர்த்தக வணிகம் ஆப்கானியர்கள் தவிர சரண்களால் கட்டுப்படுத்தப்பட்டது. சரண் குதிரை வியாபாரிகள் மிகவும் நல்ல வலைப்பின்னல்களைக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். குதிரை வியாபாரம் செய்யும் சரண்களின் செல்வாக்கின் மற்றொரு உதாரணத்தில், கச்சேலா துணைக்குழுவைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு சரண், நாத சம்பிரதயத்தின் பிரிவுத் தலைவரின் அனுசரணையில் மார்வார் ஆட்சியாளர் மகாராஜா தகாத் சிங்கின் அரசவைக்கு வந்து, தனது 10 குதிரைகளை சந்தைப்படுத்தினார். இது ஆட்சியாளரால் நேரடியாக வாங்கப்பட்டது. சமூகக் கட்டமைப்பு[தொகு]

பாரம்பரியமாக, சரண்கள் கதை சொல்பவர்களாகவும் மரபியல் வல்லுநர்களாக பணிபுரிந்தனர். [36] [37] [38] [39] [40]

சமூகத்தின் பெரும் பகுதியினரால் சாதியைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் தெய்வீகமாகக் கருதப்படுகிறார்கள். கத்ரிகள் மற்றும் [[ராஜ்புத்]திரர்கள் உட்பட இந்த பிராந்தியத்தின் பிற முக்கிய சமூகங்களால் சாதியின் பெண்கள் தாய் தெய்வங்களாக வணங்கப்படுகிறார்கள். [41] பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக, சரண்கள் வாக்குறுதியை மீறுவதை விட இறப்பதை விரும்புகிறார்கள் என்ற நற்பெயருக்காக அறியப்பட்டனர். [42] சரண் சமூகம் எழுதப்பட்ட பரம்பரையை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டது. ஒரு சரண் மற்ற சரண்கள் ஒருவரையொருவர் அறியாவிட்டாலும், பொருளாதாரம் அல்லது புவியியல் அந்தஸ்து முற்றிலும் வேறுபட்டிருந்தாலும் சமமாகவே கருதுவார். [43] சரண் ஆண்கள் தார் பாலைவனம் வழியாக ஒட்டகம் மற்றும் பொதி எருதுகள் மற்றும் வாகங்களின் புனித வழிகாட்டிகள் என்றும், குதிரைகள், கம்பளி மற்றும் உப்பு வியாபாரிகள், படைகளுக்கு உணவு மற்றும் ஆயுதங்களை வழங்குபவர்கள் என்றும் அறியப்படுகிறார்கள். சரண்கள் அபினி நுகர்வுகளை அனுபவித்தனர். இந்த நடைமுறைகள் இந்த பிராந்தியத்தின் ராஜபுத்திரர்களிடையே இன்றும் பிரபலமாக உள்ளன.
