கோரோவாய் மக்கள் (Korowai), இந்தோனேசியாவின் கிழக்கில் உள்ள மேற்கு நியூ கினி தீவின் மேட்டு நில பாப்புவா மற்றும் தெற்கு பாப்புவா பகுதிகளின் மழைக்காடுகளில் வாழும் பழங்குடி மக்கள் ஆவார். இம்மக்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 4000 முதல் 4400 ஆக கணிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.[3][1][2]1970ஆம் ஆண்டின் மானிடவியலாளர்கள் இம்மக்களை அணுகும் வரை, தங்களைத் தவிர உலகில் வேறு பகுதிகளில் மனிதர்கள் வாழவில்லை எனக் கணித்திருந்தனர்.[4]

தற்போது கோரோவாய் மக்கள் புகைபிடிக்கும் பழக்கம் மேற்கொண்டாலும், மது அருந்துவதில்லை.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11]

ஆடை

கோரோவாய் ஆண்கள் இடுப்பில் கயிறு மட்டும் கட்டுக்கொள்கின்றனர் வேறு ஆடை அணிவதில்லை. ஆனால் பெண்கள் மட்டும் இடுப்பு, மார்பகங்களை மூடுக்கொள்வதற்கு சிறு ஆடைகளை அணிகின்றனர்.

கோரோவாய் மக்கள் கூட்டாக வேட்டையாடச் செல்கின்றனர். சிலர் தோட்டங்களை வளர்க்கின்றனர். நீர் நிலைகளில் மீன்களை பிடித்து உண்கின்றனர். மரவள்ளிக் கிழங்கு சவ்வரிசியை உணவாக உண்கின்றனர்.

சடங்கு மற்றும் முன்னோர் வழிபாடு

கோரோவாய் மக்கள் செழிப்பு மற்றும் கருவுறுதலைத் தூண்டிவதற்கு வாழ்நாளில் ஒரு முறை திருவிழா போன்ற சடங்கைச் செய்கின்றனர். கடுமையான பிரச்சனையின் போது முன்னோர்களின் ஆவிகளுக்கு வளர்ப்பு பன்றிகளை பலி கொடுக்கிறார்கள்.

மரவீடுகள்

பெரும்பாலான கோரோவாய் ஆண்கள் மிக உயரமான மரங்களில் மரவீடுகளை அமைத்து வாழ்கின்றனர்.[12] பெண்கள் தனியாக மரவீடுகளில் வாழ்கின்றனர். 1980கள் முதல் சில கோரோவாய் இளைஞர்கள் அருகில் உள்ள கிராமங்களில் குடியேறி கோம்பாய் மக்களுடன் வாழ்கின்றனர்.
