எட்டு-ரியல் நாணயம், எட்டின் துண்டு போன்ற பெயர்களாலும் அழைக்கப்படும் எசுப்பானிய டாலர் ஒரு வெள்ளி நாணயம் ஆகும். 1598ல் எசுப்பானியப் பேரரசில் அச்சிடப்பட்ட 38 மிமீ விட்டம் கொண்ட இந்நாணயங்கள் 8 ரியல்கள் பெறுமானம் கொண்டவை. செருமனியின் தாலருக்கு இணையாகவே இது உருவாக்கப்பட்டது.

சீரான தன்மை, உற்பத்தித் தரம் என்பவை காரணமாக எசுப்பானிய டாலர் பல நாடுகளில் பன்னாட்டு நாணயமாகப் பயன்பட்டது. சில நாடுகள் எசுப்பானிய டாலரை அங்கீகரித்து உள்ளூர் நாணயமாகவும் பயன்படுத்த வழி செய்தன.^[1] தொடக்ககால ஐக்கிய அமெரிக்க டாலர் எசுப்பானிய டாலரை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டிருந்தது. 1857ன் நாணயச் சட்டம் வரும்வரை இது ஐக்கிய அமெரிக்காவில் சட்டமுறைச் செலாவணியாக விளங்கியது. இது ஐரோப்பா, அமெரிக்காக்கள், தூரகிழக்கு ஆகிய பகுதிகளில் பரவலாகப் பயன்பட்டதால் 18ம் நூற்றாண்டின் பிற்பகுதியில் இது உலக நாணயமானது.^[2]^[3]
