சீசெல்சுத் தமிழர்

சிசெல்சுத் தமிழர் தமிழ்ப் பின்புலத்துடன் சிசெல்சில் வசிக்கும் தமிழர் ஆவர்.

சிசெல்சு தென்கிழக்கு ஆபிரிக்க முனையில் உள்ள ஒரு தீவுக் கூட்டமாகும். இதன் மொத்த மக்கள் தொகை 81000 ஆகும். அது ஒரு மிகச் சிறு விழுக்காடு, ஏறக்குறைய 4000 மக்கள் தமிழர் ஆவர்.^[1] இங்கு தமிழ்ப் பண்பாட்டு விருத்தி மையம் ஒன்று இருக்கிறது. இந்த அமைப்பினூடாக 50 மாணவர்கள் தமிழ்க் கல்வி பெற்று வருகின்றனர். ^[2]

வரலாறு[தொகு]

1770 களில் ஒரு சிறு குழு தமிழர்கள் இத்தீவுகளுக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டார்கள்.^[3] புதுச்சேரியில் இருந்து வணிகர்கள் இங்கு வந்து வணிகம் செய்து வந்தனர். இவ் வணிகர் சமூகத்தின் ஒரு பகுதி இங்கேயே தங்கியது.

Tamil traders from Pondicherry used to visit for purposes of timber trade followed by settlements of Tamils from Tamil Nadu for trading purposes.
