டோரிஸ் லெஸ்சிங் (Doris Lessing) ஈரானில்[1] கெர்மன்ழ்சா (Kermanshah) என்னும் இடத்தில் அக்டோபர் 22, 1919 [2] ஆம் நாள் பிறந்தார். இவ் ஆங்கிலேயர் 2007 ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான இலக்கிய நோபல் பரிசைப் பெற்றார். பிரித்தானிய அரசின் உயர் பெருமைப்பட்டங்களாகிய CH[3] "மாண்பின் இணையர்", OBE [4] "பிரித்தானிய பேரரசின் வரிசையர்" முதலிய பட்டங்களைப் பெற்றவர். பிறந்தபொழுது இவருடைய பெயர் டோரிஸ் மே டெய்லர் (Doris May Tayler) என்பதாகும். இவர் எழுதிய த கோல்டன் நோட்புக் என்னும் புதினம் புகழ்பெற்றது.
நோபல் பரிசு வழங்கும் சுவீடிசிய அக்காடமி டோரிஸ் லெஸ்சிங்கைப் பற்றி கூறியதாவது: "that epicist of the female experience, who with scepticism, fire and visionary power has subjected a divided civilisation to scrutiny".[5]
