இந்தியப் பஞ்சம், 1899–1900 (Indian famine of 1899–1900) பிரித்தானிய இந்தியாவின் வடக்கு மற்றும் மேற்குப்பகுதிகளைப் பாதித்த ஒரு பெரும் பஞ்சமாகும். இப்பஞ்சத்தால் மொத்தம் 12,30,000 சதுர கிமீ நிலப்பரப்பும் 5.95 கோடி மக்களும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டனர். மத்திய மாகாணங்களும் பெராரும், மும்பை மாகாணம், ஆஜ்மெர்-மெர்வாரா, பஞ்சாப்பின் ஹிசார் ஆகிய பிரித்தானிய இந்தியப் பகுதிகள் இப்பஞ்சத்தால் கடுமையாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டன. ராஜபுதானா முகமை, மத்திய இந்திய முகமை, ஐதராபாத், கத்தியவார் முகமை போன்ற சமஸ்தானங்களையும் இப்பஞ்சம் தாக்கியது. இவை தவிர வங்காள மாகாணம், சென்னை மாகாணம், வடமேற்கு எல்லைப்புற மாகாணங்கள் ஆகியவற்றின் சில பகுதிகளும் கடுமையாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டன.[1]

1896–97 பஞ்சத்தினால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பகுதிகளில் பெரும்பாலானவற்றை இப்பஞ்சம் மீண்டும் கடுமையாகப் பாதித்தது. முந்தைய பஞ்சத்தைப் போலவே இப்பஞ்சத்திற்கு முன்பும் பருவமழை பொய்த்து வறட்சி நிலவியது. இந்தியாவின் பிற பகுதிகளில் உணவு தானியங்களின் விளைச்சல் வெகுவாகக் குறைந்ததால், மாகாணங்களுக்கிடையே வழக்கமாக நடைபெறும் தானிய வர்த்தகம் பாதிக்கப்பட்டது; பற்றாக்குறையும் கூடியது.[2][3]

பஞ்சத்தினால் இறந்தவர் எண்ணிக்கை அதிக அளவில் இருந்தது. ஏறக்குறைய தக்காணத்தில் 1,66,000 பேரும் மும்பை மாகாணத்தில் 4,62,000 பேரும் மாண்டனர். பிரித்தானிய ஆட்சிப் பகுதிகளில் மட்டும் குறைந்தபட்சம் 10 லட்சம் பேர் பட்டினி மற்றும் தொற்று நோய்களால் மடிந்தனர். பல மில்லியன் கால்நடைகளும் மடிந்தன. இந்தியா முழுவதும் இப்பஞ்சத்தினால் உயிரிழந்தவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை குறித்த கணிப்புகள் மாறுபடுகின்றன. பத்து லட்சம் முதல் நாற்பந்தைந்து லட்சம் பேர் இதனால் மடிந்திருக்கலாம் என கணிப்புகள் கூறுகின்றன.[4][5][6][7]
