மூடுபனி
மூடுபனி அல்லது பனிப்புகார் என்பது புவியின் மேற்பரப்பிற்கு அண்மையாக வளியில் நீர்த்துளிகளோ, அல்லது பனி படிகங்களோ தொங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் நிலையைக் குறிக்கும்[1]. இது பொதுவாக ஈரலிப்பான நிலத்திற்கு அண்மையாகவோ, அல்லது ஏரி, குளம், கடல் போன்ற நீர்நிலைகளுக்கு அருகிலோ தோன்றும்[2]. இந்த மூடுபனியைப் போலன்றி முகில் புவி மேற்பரப்பை விட்டு விலகி மிகவும் உயரத்தில் தோன்றும் நீர்த் துளிகளின் தொகுப்பாகும். மூடுபனியின் அடர்த்தி, அதனூடாக ஊடுருவிப் பார்க்கக் கூடிய தூரம் என்பதைப் பொறுத்து ஆங்கிலத்தில் fog, mist என்று வெவ்வேறு பெயர்களைப் பெறுகின்றது[3]. பனி இனூடாகப் பார்க்கப்படக் கூடிய தூரம் 1 இலிருந்து 2 கி.மீ. வரை வேறுபடும். ஆனால் மூடுபனி இனூடாகப் பார்க்கப்படக் கூடிய தூரம் 1 கி.மீ. ஐ விடக் குறைவாக இருக்கும்[4].
